A little about our musical acts, first up, we have a local favorite, Colt O' & the Firefly Show, also known as Colt O'Brien. Colt has played around the four-state area for some time now. He is genius on the guitar, has a great sense of humor and can make up an original song about anything at the drop of a hat! Colt takes a lot of inspiration from McDonald County when writing his music.
Colt opens for another local and country music sensation Kenny Ray Horton. With his soulful voice and captivating stage presence, Kenny will transport you to a world where storytelling meets guitars and heartfelt lyrics. Kenny Ray’s music was born and bred in southwest Missouri. Living on a dairy farm outside of Rocky Comfort, MO, he was raised on the southern gospel harmonies of Albert E. Brumley. After moving to Nashville to follow his dreams, Kenny learned from a select group of fellow musicians and songwriters including Blake Shelton, Verlon Thompson, John Jarvis, and Tom Wurth. Success came quickly with a cut by the legendary Kenny Rogers that garnered Horton the title of Gold Record Awarded Songwriter.
Kenny served our country for 21 years in the United States Navy, where he was selected to sing in the Navy’s premier country and bluegrass band, “Country Current.” Horton has performed “The Star-Spangled Banner” for countless dignitaries, national events as well as sporting events.
In every spare moment, Kenny Ray Horton has continued his songwriting and playing. He has written, “Run Petty Run,” for NASCAR’s king, Richard Petty and had the honor of presenting the song to Petty himself. Kenny Ray has also honored his home state of Missouri with the song, “Missouri,” and has enjoyed playing the song with Bluegrass and Country Singer, as well as fellow Missourian, Rhonda Vincent.
“I will always follow the music,” Kenny says. “It’s always worked the best for me.”
